Chelsea had the opportunity to close the gap on Leicester City and also extend the gap on Manchester United this weekend, but the Blues could only get a point at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday after a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

With 10 games left in the Premier League 2019/20 season, Chelsea are fighting hard to hold on to fourth spot and seal a Champions League finish at the end of the season.

Speaking after the draw against the Cherries, Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen was pleased that United wouldn’t catch up with the Blues this weekend at least.

The Dane said: “We have had this opportunity for a long time to make this gap [between fourth and fifth] and somehow we haven’t managed to actually do it so in that sense, it is good they [Man United] can’t catch us now but for sure we would like to win and have a gap again.

“March is going to be very important. It is a big month for us and we know it and we have to go back again and perform well.”

Manchester United also dropped points after playing a 1-1 draw with Everton.
