‘It’s good to reflect on them, after losing my job’ – Frank Lampard sends strong message to Chelsea after accepting Everton job

Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has described his experience as Chelsea boss as enjoyable despite a difficult second season as he embarks on a new challenge with Everton in the Premier League.

However, Lampard managed a fourth-place finish in his first season as Chelsea boss but struggled in his second season and was sacked with the Blues eighth in the Premier League.

“I’m a person who always reflects and it’s good to reflect but it’s also good not to over-reflect,” Lampard admitted in his first Everton press conference on Thursday afternoon.

“I think when I reflect on my career at Derby, we had a really exciting year- almost got to the incredible prize of winning promotion to the Premier League.”

He then went on to add about Chelsea: “On reflection, I think I had a really enjoyable and good 17 months with the first year of Champions League and meeting expectations with the FA Cup final.

“My second season, we were top of the league then when you realise the reality of football, at the top end, we had a really difficult month and a loss of form and I end up losing my job.

“But that’s something that I’m aware can happen in the game, because I’ve been in the game for so long.”
