“It’s not a joke” “I will punish them this way” – Pochettino opens up on how to punish Chelsea stars after penalty incident against Everton

“It’s not a joke” “I will punish them this way” – Pochettino opens up on how to punish Chelsea stars after penalty incident against Everton

On Monday night, Chelsea defeated Everton 6-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The main talking point from this game has been the penalty fight between Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Nicolas Jackson, even though Chelsea won handily.

Conor Gallagher’s insistence that Cole Palmer would take the penalty annoyed both Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke, who had debated about who should take it.

Pochettino has stated unequivocally that no player from Chelsea should drag the penalty kick with Cole Palmer ever again and that he would punish any player who engages in such behavior.

“I made it clear to them. Now I make it clear to you, Cole Palmer is the taker. If he wants to give it to someone else he can, not in this way. It will not happen again,” Mauricio Pochettino has said when asked about the penalty incident v Everton.

I thought we behaved like kids today. When this happens we need to learn and learn quick. Perform like today but behave much better.

“Next time they’re all out. It’s not a joke. It’s impossible after a performance like this to have this behaviour. We have to learn a lot if we want to be a great team. Think more in a collective way than in individual achievement,” the boss added.

Earlier, Cole Palmer said the episode ended in the involved players laughing and cracking jokes until Pochettino brought it up again in the locker room.

Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke wanted to take a penalty kick instead of Cole Palmer as Chelsea were 4-0 ahead. After a while, Conor Gallagher intervened and gave the ball to Palmer.
