Former Chelsea transfer target Blaise Matuidi has become the second Juventus player to test positive for the coronavirus, after Juve defender Daniele Rugani also tested positive to Covid-19 last week.
“Footballer Blaise Matuidi has undergone medical tests that have revealed his positivity to COVID-19,” Juventus released via a club statement.
“From Wednesday 11 March, the player is voluntarily isolated at home and he will continue to be monitored and to follow the same regime. He is well and is asymptomatic.”
The French midfielder has already been in self-isolation from last Wednesday when his clubmate Daniele Rugani was confirmed positive with the virus.
Chelsea were among the clubs linked with Matuidi before he made the move to Juventus from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The entire Juve players and staff are currently observing self-isolation.
