Just in: Chelsea make first move to sign €40m-rated new midfielder
The Blues are looking to add 2 or 3 new signings this window in order to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United to challenge for the title. Both Manchester clubs are also expected to be busy in the market.
However, Chelsea have reportedly made their ‘first move’ to sign a new midfielder this summer.
According to The Daily Mirror, Chelsea have made moves to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, with an enquiry being made to his club.
With Billy Gilmour joining Norwich City on loan just a couple of days ago, there could be space in the midfield for a new signing to arrive there if Chelsea deem that a priority.
Saul’s links are somewhat surprising though, as the profile of midfielder being looked at by Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel largely appears to be a defensive midfielder, and that isn’t really Saul’s strengths.
It’s certainly worth keeping a close eye on this story though, with reliable links to the player from Chelsea being reported.
