Just In: Chelsea turn attention to £50 million midfielder after sealing Hakim Ziyech deal

According to The Sun, Chelsea have entered a battle with Manchester United for the signing of Birmingham wonderkid Jude Bellingham after sealing a deal for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech.

The 16 year old midfielder, who is also being monitored by Real Madrid and Barcelona, earns just £145 a week at Birmingham because he cannot sign a pro contract until he turns 17 in June.

Chelsea are willing to pay £50 million for the midfielder – an initial fee of £35 million plus a further £15m in add-ons.

Despite being just 16, Bellingham has made 31 appearances this season for Birmingham, during which he has scored four goals and provided three assists.

Bellingham became Birmingham’s youngest player when he made his full debut aged just 16 years and 38 days old and in the process broke the record set by club legend Trevor Francis in 1970.

Manchester United had a £30 million bid for the player rejected in January and the Blues are hoping to beat United to his signature.
