Just In: Two Bayern Munich stars set to miss game against Chelsea

Chelsea play host to Bayern Munich in the first leg of our round of 16 Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Bayern Munich have announced that their key midfielder Javi Martinez has resumed training ahead of the clash after missing six games due to a torn muscle.

However, Bayern Munich will still be without duo Niklas Sule and Ivan Perisic. Sule is out with a knee injury, while Ivan Perisic will miss out with an ankle problem.

For Chelsea, the Blues will be without N’Golo Kante, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek only just resumed training but is yet to play a competitive game. He’d be available for Tuesday night’s game, albeit on the bench.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has called for positivity from the whole team after the Blues defeated Tottenham on Saturday.

“Positivity is big, but there’s a balance,” he said. “If there are reasons we’re not winning games here we have say them. But after that, once you know them, you have to then go, ‘Okay, let’s be positive, how do we put this right.’

“Let’s not talk, talk, talk, let’s find a solution. The solution for us a little bit today was about mindset and how we approach the game. The lads were spot on in every way and that’s something we need to take into account going forward.

“We’re footballers here and we’re trying to be successful. It’s not easy, it’s tough – everyone is trying to beat each other.

“The positivity for me, and the confidence, comes from the training ground. It comes from behaviour day in, day out and the focus of how we are every day then relates to the weekend. If you train with a little bit of a lack of focus, I believe you can have that on the weekend. Those are the basics.”
