Just in: UK government finally made some changes to Chelsea’s license
The UK government’s sanctioning of Roman Abramovich had affected the club directly, as the club could only operate on a special license – meaning certain logistics and economic gains were cut off.
As we all know, Chelsea’s access to the club’s funds have been cut off for some days now, but after two days of talks between Chelsea officials and MPs, some revisions have been made to the special license.
As it stands, the club can now access up to £110 million in order to continue paying their £28 million monthly wage bill as well as other expenses.
Also, the £500,000 cap on matchday outlay has now been nearly doubled to £900,000, while the limit of £20,000 on away travel expenses will also be increased if Chelsea overcomes Lille.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has reiterated his support for Chelsea, and has vowed to be at the away game to Lille by any means.
Tuchel said: “My last information is we are getting a plane. So we can go by plane and come back by plane. If not, we’ll go by train. If not, we’ll go by bus. If not, I’ll drive a seven-seater. Honestly, I will do it. You can mark my words, I will do to arrive there.
“If you asked me 20 years ago, 30 years ago, if I would join a Champions League match at the sideline and what I was willing to do, I’d say, ‘ok, where do I have to be and when?’ Why should this change?
“I will be there and we will be there. Of course, organisation wise, there are some negotiations going on and talks, but it doesn’t influence me. That’s what I mean, we have brilliant guys who organise the travel and we have, in every department, such committed people that at the moment things feel pretty normal.”
