Kylian Mbappe gives Chelsea seal of approval to complete £43m transfer

Chelsea are said to be considering a move for Lyon star Rayan Cherki and Kylian Mbappe is already a huge fan of the young Frenchman. The Blues have already completed six new signings in the summer transfer window and are unlikely to stop there.

This is according to Football London.

Christopher Nkunku completed a £52million move to Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig, followed by Nicolas Jackson arriving from Villarreal. Talented youngster Kendry Paez was signed from Independiente del Valle and will officially join the Blues when he turns 18.

Dujuan Richards, Alex Matos and Diego Moreira have also been signed by Chelsea and are expected to bolster the club’s academy ranks as Todd Boehly continues to bring in the best talents from across the world. Mauricio Pochettino had planned to add a new goalkeeper, central midfielder and striker to his squad ahead of next season – but the sheer amount of outgoings at the club could see more arrivals than he had originally planned for.

Kai Havertz has left the club to sign for London rivals Arsenal, whilst Mason Mount is expected to complete a £60million switch to Manchester United in the coming days. Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy have also left the club – all moving to clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Mateo Kovacic has joined Premier League champions Manchester City and Ruben Loftus-Cheek has signed for AC Milan. Pochettino will be looking to add more reinforcements to his midfield options and Lyon starlet Cherki has now emerged as a potential candidate for the Blues to sign.

According to Simon Phillips on Substack, Chelsea are considering an approach for Cherki who has impressed in France. The youngster’s performances have already caught the attention of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe with the French striker suggesting the 19-year-old is playing at a level way beyond his age.

After Cherki recorded two goals and two assists in one game for Lyon at the age of just 16, Mbappe hopped onto Twitter posting: “Don’t talk to him too much about age, huh.” The youngster scored five goals and provided a further six assists for Lyon in all competitions last term with the French club setting a £43million asking price for their talented playmaker, as per But Football Club.
