Lampard finally reveals the players to blame for Neto’s 95th minute goal
When Neto got the better of Kurt Zouma following a brilliant counterattacking move by Wolves to score a 95th minute goal that ensured a 2-1 win for Wolves.
Speaking after the game, former Chelsea star Joe Cole seemed to blame the shape of the players left behind from the Chelsea set-piece, particularly N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
Frank Lampard also shared the same sentiment, as he believes that the players left should have done well with the situation.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, the Chelsea boss said: “I think we had enough players [back] to deal with it, but we just weren’t properly prepared to counter-press if the ball got headed out of the box.
“We didn’t connect well with the free-kick at the end of the game. We kept Thiago Silva back, we had enough numbers back to deal with it, and we didn’t deal with it well enough.”
Chelsea’s next game is against Wolves on Monday, December 21, and nothing short of a victory will be okay from the team.
