Frank Lampard has had injury worries since the start of his campaign as Chelsea boss, and it has now hit a very high state after the victory against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
While Ruben Loftus-Cheek is yet to feature after a very long injury layoff, the likes of Tammy Abraham, N’Golo Kante, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic are out injured. And now, Mateo Kovacic and Willian have joined the growing list of Chelsea injuries.
Kovacic limped out before half-time in the game against Liverpool, while Willian limped out in the second half.
Speaking after the game, Lampard gave an update on the duo although the update on Kovacic is a scary one which Chelsea do not need at the moment.
Lampard said: “Both have got Achilles issues. Willian hopefully isn’t too bad, that’s what he’s reporting. We’ll see tomorrow. Kovacic feels slightly worse, but hopefully not too drastic. We’ll see.
“We’ll have to have a bit of a count on Thursday, as they’re off tomorrow. We’ll see where we’re at in terms of midfield players. Sometimes you can moan about injuries, and I have, but the reality is you have to keep fighting and go with it, and when the players show the spirit they have tonight you hope it gives them strength as a group to keep moving forward.”
