Lampard ‘hits back’ at claims he wasn’t taking his job seriously by getting his wife pregnant
Frank Lampard’s wife Christine recently announced she alongside the Chelsea boss are expecting a baby this year.
The news of the pregnancy came at a time when Chelsea had been on a run of one win in six games.
Speaking to the media after Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Morecambe, a journalist questioned why the Chelsea legend was seeking more ‘sleepless nights’ after the pregnancy announcement.
Lampard initially stated that he didn’t how to ‘answer’ the question, before the journalist followed it up with a joke that Lampard ‘obviously isn’t devoting’ all of his ‘time’ to Chelsea.
Lampard laughed as he said: “It was tough, we had a lot of time on our hands (laughs), listen, when you say ’sleepless nights’ – I don’t get so many sleepless nights, I do work hard, sometimes I miss sleep come the evening time.
“I’m fortunate to have a very good wife – it’s our second now – she was fantastic the first time around, I’ll be putting a lot of reliance on her and obviously playing my part as much as I can but thanks for mentioning it.”
Lampard married Christine Bleakley in 2015 and they had a baby girl, Patricia Charlotte Lampard in 2018.
Lampard also has two daughters Luna and Isla from the relationship with his former partner Elen Rivas.
