According to The Sun, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is pressuring Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia to sign a striker during the January transfer window to boost the club’s chances of a top four finish.
Chelsea have reportedly submitted bids for PSG striker Edinson Cavani and AC Milan striker Krzystof Piatek.
The January transfer window closes on Friday and Chelsea are yet to make a signing. The club also didn’t sign any player last summer despite Eden Hazard leaving due to a transfer ban.
Tammy Abraham has been forced to shoulder the burden of finding the net this season with 15 goals to his name but the striker will be unavailable for the game against Leicester City this weekend.
The game against Leicester City is a huge game for the Blues as a defeat will leave Chelsea 11 points behind third placed Leicester.
However, Lampard was left fuming after Chelsea’s win at Hull, however, with the Blues boss urging his players to be more clinical. He said: “The good news is we are in the hat, the bad news is that it is a small example of our season.
“We had the game in our grasp and we play in nice patterns to finish them. But when they don’t come off you need to keep trying them. When we play well we are a good team but we don’t finish the game. We caused our own problems.
