According to The Sun, Chelsea will only make a move for Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake when Andreas Christensen leaves the club.

Ake has developed into a top class centre-back since leaving Chelsea for Bournemouth and the Blues are keen on triggering the buyback clause for Ake.

Chelsea currently have four centre-backs at the club at the moment – Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Fikayo Tomori and Andreas Christensen – and one of them must leave the club to create space for Ake.

However, Ake is a fortnight away from returning to fitness following a hamstring injury.

That gives them time to look into their options finding a buyer for Christensen, and they could then activate their option for Ake in the final week of the transfer window.

Christensen is reportedly surplus to requirements and Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old.

Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing Christensen but would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy.
