Lampard: ‘the break will help us alot ahead of our upcoming big games’

It was another frustrating weekend for Chelsea as the Blues couldn’t seal a win away at the King Power Stadium against Leicester City.

Like we have become accustomed to, Chelsea started the game in brilliant style and bossed the Foxes, but couldn’t take their chances. A different game panned out in the second period as Leicester City were by far the better side and Chelsea tried to hang on for most of the game.

The Blues will now go for a two weeks winter break as Chelsea have upcoming big games against Manchester United, Tottenham and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard believes that the break will help his players come back fresher and work hard for the final phase of the season.

Lampard said after the game: “Being a footballer is a fortunate job. You do what you love. Sometimes you get home after lunchtime.

But it’s also taxing with the pressure, taxing on the players’ families who don’t see them so much when we have a lot of games.

“I absolutely think the benefits of the break are there. They should enjoy it, and then they’ll come back and work hard. It’s not a mini pre-season but it’s something like that for a few days at least. It’s good for the Premier League.”
