What Chelsea currently need now is firepower in terms of a new addition to the team and also passion to return to winning ways and end the season on a high. But unfortunately, Chelsea were unable to make any signings during the January transfer window.
For Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, he has urged his players to show passion that will help fire the team to winning ways.
Writing in his manager’s notes ahead of Spurs clash, Lampard said: “We need to show the same passion on the pitch as we did when we travelled there and won earlier in the season, because this is going to be another tough game.
“We are all very aware that things have tightened up in the battle for Champions League places. This is another opportunity for us to strengthen our position against a direct rival, and it’s one we need to take.”
Meanwhile, the Chelsea boss has also revealed that returning midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will also be a weapon he can use in the second half against Spurs and in subsequent games.
“He still needs match fitness,” Lampard explained. “By putting him in the squad, we’re hoping he can be an impact if he has to come on because I can already see his abilities out there and what he can bring. I knew them already but to see them first-hand in training has been nice.
“Can he sustain that over 90 minutes at the moment? No, so we’ll have to work towards that but if he’s on the bench then he’ll have to be ready. If something happens in minute one, you’d maybe consider not doing it but if there is a chance for an impact then we know the quality he can bring.”
