Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has been linked with a return to England this summer amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
It is believed Chelsea have an edge over Manchester United in the race for Sancho because he’s a Chelsea fan but The Athletic’s David Ornstein has dismissed such suggestions.
“Sancho grew up supporting Chelsea and they are an option for him – but that doesn’t mean he’s going there,” said Ornstein. “Same Champions League issue as Man United applies to them.
“Sancho and Dortmund can sit tight for a bit, see how things develop and go from there.
“I wouldn’t rule Chelsea out but I don’t think they are in pole position, as things stand – I don’t think any club is.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly told Chelsea boss Frank Lampard that he will have the funds required to sign Sancho should he wish to do so.
Lampard is desperate to sign a quality winger after losing Eden Hazard to Real Madrid last summer with the Blues unable to sign a replacement due to the transfer ban.
