Lyon planning surprise move for €80m-rated Chelsea superstar

Lyon’s sporting director Juninho has jokingly registered his interest in N’Golo Kante after a report claimed that the London giants are willing to sell the superstar. France international has been a crucial part of Blues midfield since he made the £32m move from Leicester City in 2016.

But Kante has struggled with injuries this campaign and has been able to start just 16 of the Blues 29 Premier League matches so far. A report has claimed that Blues would consider allowing N’Golo to leave at the end of the campaign, with both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid interested in the midfielder.

After spotting the story on Twitter, Juninho made it clear he would love to bring the 29-year-old midfielder to Lyon with a hopeful message to fans. Lyon are currently seventh in Ligue 1, while the French midfielder would be expected to cost well over double their current transfer record, which was set last summer with the €30m deal for Andersen.

Meanwhile, the Blues have been criticised over their failure to agree on a new deal with Willian. Brazil international’s current deal is due to expire this summer. ‘Willian is top-class, and Chelsea hasn’t got a lot of world-class footballers. Willian has been outstanding, he could play for Manchester City tomorrow,’ Paul Merson said.

‘There will be teams queuing around the block to sign him. He’s a special player, and for me, Chelsea have dropped one by letting it get to this situation.’ Lyon signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Jean Lucas from Flamengo, Youssouf Koné from Lille, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde from Angers and Thiago Mendes from Lille.
