Chelsea target Anthony Martial is reportedly in talks with Manchester United over signing a five-year contract extension.
Martial was heavily linked with Chelsea over the summer. The Blues appeared to fancy their chances of landing him following the deterioration of his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.
There were suggestions that Willian could be used as a makeweight in the deal. Mourinho is a longstanding admirer of our industrious Brazilian. The proposed deal never became reality, however, with both players remaining at their respective clubs. It doesn’t look as though that’s going to change anytime soon, either.
According to the BBC’s Simon Stone, talks are underway between Martial’s camp and United over a potential five-year extension.
There appears to be a belief that Martial will outlast Mourinho at Old Trafford, thus has decided against leaving.
Don’t worry Chelsea fans, all it means is more minutes for Callum Hudson-Odoi!
