Manchester united star on the verge of joining Chelsea

Raphael Varane of Manchester United is likely to link with Chelsea in the summer, according to former Chelsea full-back Glen Johnson.

This statement is similar to one made not too long ago by William Gallas, another former Chelsea player, who suggested that Chelsea focus on the Manchester United players.

By choosing not to exercise the option provision in Varane’s new contract, Manchester United offered fans a surprise this season and raised the possibility that he would leave the team this summer on a free transfer.

Since joining United from Real Madrid in 2021, Varane has been striving to play his best every season amid injury problems that has reduced the number of his appearances.

Nevertheless, Johnson, in his statement to the Betfred, noticed that this case was a rare chance to sign a player of Varane’s calibre without a transfer fee. He observed that Varane could not be at the same level he was some time back, but surely he is still an awesome player.

Johnson reported that by signing Varane as a free transfer it is still certainly a superior deal no matter if he is only able to play a few games. Moreover, he related the Thiago Silva’s presence at Chelsea to introduce how the more experienced can command respect among the group and even coach the newcomers.

Johnson opines that even if Varane features in just a half of the season, he would still make an impact on Chelsea.

The acquisition of Varane, which might fit perfectly in the timeline, is a stroke of luck for the team, which has failed to stand firm at the front of the net this season. The signing of an experienced and skilful defender like Varane could be the push they need to strengthen their backline.

Following his injury, Varane’s strong presence as a player of elite level that played in Real Madrid and Manchester United for quite some time now could add a lot of value to the Chelsea team.
