As a result of the recent dearth of goals from the Chelsea strikers, owner Marina Granovskaia has receives orders to complete the deal of 59-goals and £50m-rated striker.

There is call for Diego Costa to be brought back to The Stamford Bridge. The view came from former England striker Peter Crouch who has seen the club struggle in front of goals this season as Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud are finding it hard to score.

This development and the inability to live up to expectations has led to Chelsea scoring just 38 goals in the Premier League this season with Giroud and Morata contributing little to the goals.

In contrast, leaders Liverpool have netted 49 goals while Manchester City have scored 56 goals and their attackers contributing tremendously.

Costa left Chelsea in 2017 after falling out with former boss Antonio Conte and returned to Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish international striker performed overwhelmingly in his days at Chelsea scoring 59 goals in all competitions for The Blues across three seasons, helping them to two Premier League titles.

And Crouch believes Maurizio Sarri should look at bringing Costa back despite rumours that he wants Gonzalo Higuain.

Crouch wrote for the Daily Mail: “Chelsea have scored the fewest goals of the top six sides.

“A return of 38 from 21 matches isn’t enough to win you a title, no matter how good your defence is.

“The one thing you need is someone to score you 30 goals and they do not have a player like Harry Kane, Mo Salah or Sergio Aguero.

“Not so long ago, they did. Diego Costa would absolutely transform Chelsea’s fortunes and, if it was down to me, I’d break the bank to re-sign him.

“You can talk about Gonzalo Higuain or Karim Benzema, but I think Costa would be the one to take Chelsea where they want to be.

“There was something about the way Costa’s career finished at Stamford Bridge that doesn’t sit right.

“I know there were huge problems between him and Antonio Conte, but even so, it seemed like they didn’t put up any kind of fight to keep him.”

The former England international believes no striker can really understand Chelsea better now. A return for Costa is going to be a difficult one though.
