Massive blow for Frank Lampard as defender wants out of Chelsea this summer

Coming back to Stamford Bridge as manager is arguably the best thing to have happened to Frank Lampard’s young managerial career but it appears the unripe time to make such demanding decision due to FIFA transfer ban.

The former Derby County boss is restricted to working with the players he inherited from Maurizio Sarri following the transfer embargo placed on the club by the World’s football governing body.

To worsen matters, Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard, who was arguably Chelsea’s most in-form player throughout last season, completed his highly-speculated move to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to linkup with Zinedine Zidane’s team.

Latest report now suggest that Italian defender Davide Zappacosta is set to follow Eden Hazard’s footsteps by leaving Stamford Bridge Stadium before the end of the transfer window.

The 27-year-old joined the Blues from Torino in 2017 but has failed to make his presence count since his debut appearance against Leicester City.

He was sparingly utilized by Antonio Conte who had so much faith in Victor Moses during his time as Chelsea boss.

Under Maurizio Sarri, Zappacosta and Danny Drinkwater were both overlooked by the Italian boss for most of last season after the former Torino man featured in just four Premier League games.

With less than a week to the end of all summer transactions in England, Daily Star are claiming that the 13-capped Italy international could be on his way back to his country as many Serie A sides are showing interest in his services.

Though the right-back’s importance to the Blues currently appears insignificant, his presence and experience will provide more options to Lampard who needs all his players to remain fit and available during the upcoming campaign.
