Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has praised Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour after his impressive performance in the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Liverpool on Tuesday night.
The 18 year old bossed the midfield from a deep-lying playmaker role and his performance was reminiscent of how his idol Cesc Fabregas used to play.
Asked on Twitter what he thought of Gilmour’s performance against Liverpool, Fabregas said:
“Fantastic. Personality on the ball, intelligence in his decision making, always making angles to offer himself and has that bit of aggression in him which is very important specially in the Premier League.”
Fabregas also believes the young Scot has ‘real potential’.
He added: “When you have the quality but also the desire, the work ethic and the intelligence, then is when you can see real potential in a young player. He has all of that.”
