Kick-Off: Saturday, August 11, 2018. 14:00 GMT
Venue: John Smith’s Stadium.
It’s the first league game of the season for the Blues, and Chelsea have an away clash against the Terriers in what will be Maurizio Sarri’s first Premier League encounter.
While Chelsea finished 5th last season, Huddersfield survived relegation scare to end the season in 16th position.
Chelsea defeated Huddersfield 3-1 at the last season, but the Terriers got a surprise 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in May.
The last time Huddersfield won against Chelsea was in a Division Two game at Stamford Bridge in March 1963. Huddersfield ended last season poorly, and could have been relegated had they not started out the season well. Huddersfield have lost 10 Premier League games in 2018, more than any other side. They also won just once in their last 10 games last season, losing 5 of those games. The Terriers also found it difficult scoring goals last season as they netted a joint low of 23 goals alongside Swansea City.
However, it was a good pre-season for David Wagner’s side who won their final three pre-season games, beating Lyon, Bologna and RB Leipzig, scoring a total of eight goals.
Chelsea are expected to win this game convincingly as the Blues have a good opening day record. Chelsea lost to Burnley in our opening league game last year – it’s our only season-opening league defeat in the past 19 seasons (W15, D3).
Sarri will be hoping his side clicks in Saturday’s clash as everyone is expecting a good Chelsea victory.
