Mauricio Pochettino sacking date revealed as Chelsea dressing room on ‘fire’ after shock Arsenal defeat

The players at Chelsea apparently refused to back Todd Boehly in firing Mauricio Pochettino in spite of the team’s 5-0 thrashing of Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Due to the Blues’ poor Premier League performance, Pochettino has been under fire for almost the whole season. Chelsea made it to both the FA Cup semifinals and the Carabao Cup final, but they will not be able to qualify for the Champions League.

The Blues’ loss to the Gunners dealt a serious setback to their aspirations of making it to Europe, which increased the pressure on the Argentine head coach. That being said, it seems the dressing room is behind him.

According to The Daily Mail, the Chelsea team would be devastated if Boehly decided to fire the manager this summer because they had become close to their head coach. With the season coming to a conclusion, it’s thought Chelsea would evaluate Pochettino’s role, and fan unhappiness has been mounting.

Pochettino’s chances of being fired are growing since the match against Aston Villa can be very important. If he loses the match versus Villa, he can lose his job.

After the defeat to Arsenal, Pochettino said: “I cannot blame the players. There are too many details and circumstances for why this happened.”

While the Chelsea players want Pochettino to stay, former defender William Gallas is adamant the boss must leave. He told Lord Ping before the defeat to the Gunners: “Pochettino has failed in his first season as Chelsea manager.

“There is no other conclusion that can be drawn. At the moment, he hasn’t won any trophies, and it is almost impossible for the club to qualify for European football.

“He hasn’t brought any trophies, Chelsea are ninth in the table, okay, Europe isn’t over yet, but it will be nearly impossible. At the end of the season, if he hasn’t taken the club into the Europa League, then he has failed. It is as simple as that.”
