Maurizio Sarri basically confirms he is ready to sell two Chelsea players

Maurizio Sarri has suggested he is willing to sell Chelsea duo Danny Drinkwater and Victor Moses. Drinkwater, who signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2017 for £35million, has played just once for the Blues this season.

Nigeria international Moses has made six appearances but has lost his place in Chelsea’s starting line-up since Sarri replaced Antonio Conte.

Asked whether the pair still have Chelsea futures, Sarri said: ‘I don’t know. ‘They have to improve, but the characteristics are a little bit different.

’ Moses was one of the stars of Chelsea’s Premier League triumph under Conte but does not appear to have a future under new boss Sarri. Drinkwater, who won the top-flight with Leicester City before joining the Blues, has had an even more limited role this season and is expected to move on in January or the summer.

Sarri added: ‘The situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two midfielders.

‘I told him two months ago what I think.’ ‘And Moses is more suitable for playing like a wing-back than like a winger or a full-back.’ Only newly-promoted Wolves, who lost to Tottenham on Saturday evening, have used fewer players than Sarri’s Chelsea in the Premier League so far this season.

But the former Napoli boss insists he will be forced to rotate the squad over the festive period, especially as Chelsea are competing in the Europa League.

‘Of course if you look to December, January – we’ll need to change [the team] for the Premier League because there will be matches every three days,’ he said.

‘So we’ll need to change there too, of course.’ Chelsea will move above Liverpool into second place if they beat struggling Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
