Maurizio Sarri disappointed with Giroud: ‘He needs to score more’

The manager believes the Frenchman should use his chances more efficiently

The striker has been subbed on in the 74th minute and had two clear-cut opportunities to net a goal but missed the first shot and hit the crossbar after the second attempt

Maurizio Sarri has been pleased with the way Chelsea played against Burnley at Turf Moor in a 4-0 victory though stated the first 10 minutes of the game have been difficult for The Blues.

The manager has praised Alvaro Morata but decided to criticise Olivier Giroud a bit for his wasted chances in the second half.

“I am disappointed for Giroud because today I thought he could score. He needs to score. At the end, everything is OK. We played very well in full control of the match for the last 80 minutes.”

The Frenchman is yet to score this season. However, he has provided the team with four assists in his eleven appearances for the club. The striker also averages a rating of 6.78 as per WhoScored.

The Frenchman has also taken part in the World Cup in Russia and helped his national team to win the Mundial. He was the first option for Didier Deschamps but didn’t score a single goal for Les Bleus last summer.

Should Giroud be finally dropped for the upcoming games against Derby County & Crystal Palace?
