Maurizio Sarri drops Eden Hazard hint ahead of PAOK v Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri has hinted that Eden Hazard could be rested for Chelsea FC’s Champions League opener against PAOK on Thursday night.

The Belgian playmaker has been in superb form so far this season and he has scored five goals and made two assists in the Premier League for Sarri’s side.

He was the star of the show on Saturday as he netted a brilliant hat-trick to help Chelsea FC claim a 4-1 win over Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge.

That victory moved the Blues up to the top of the Premier League table and left them as one of the main contenders for the title this season.

Chelsea FC are now set to switch their focus towards Europa League affairs after they missed out on Champions League qualification last season due to their fifth-placed finish.

And Sarri has now revealed that he is pondering resting Hazard for the away game, as he looks to preserve the 27-year-old’s best form for the Premier League.

Sarri told his post-match news conference on Saturday: “I don’t know now because I want to have a very clear picture of the situation, who are the players who need to rest or not.

“I don’t know about Hazard. I want to speak with him and I want to speak to the doctor and then I will decide.”

Chelsea FC are aiming to at least be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season after they finished in fifth place and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte last term.
