Michail Antonio gives unbiased prediction on who will win Chelsea vs Manchester City clash

West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has made his prediction for the Chelsea vs Manchester City game on Sunday.

Chelsea welcome Manchester City to Stamford Bridge at the weekend, looking to build on their 4-1 win against rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Antonio, speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, is not too convinced that Mauricio Pochettino‘s men will be able to do that.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane also thinks it could be a bad day for the Blues.

Pep Guardiola to pip it

Because of Chelsea’s injury problems and the fact that they exerted so much energy in the Tottenham win, Antonio is backing City to just get over the line on Sunday.

Previewing the game on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, the West Ham striker said: “The problem is because they have lost some key players, they put out a lot of energy in the Chelsea [vs Tottenham] game.

“If it was the two best 11s, I’d say it would have been an unbelievable game. Two tactical managers. It would have been an exciting game to watch. I still feel it would be a good game, but I just feel Pep might pip this.”

Right now, there is no denying that City are miles ahead of Chelsea. They are currently Premier League and European champions, while Chelsea are a side who finished in 12th last season.

They are not doing much better this term either, currently sitting 10th in the standings.

However, Chelsea’s best performances this season have come in the big games. Of course, they just beat Tottenham 4-1, but they also got draws against Arsenal and Liverpool prior to that.

In fact, they would have probably beaten the Gunners had it not been for a Robert Sanchez mistake towards the end of the match.

Bearing all of that in mind, then, Chelsea’s encounter with City may end up being a closer match than most are predicting.

Nevertheless, that gap is still there and you would still expect Guardiola’s men to come out on top. But hopefully Chelsea can give them a real game and take at least a point. Four out of six from fixtures versus City and Tottenham would be a great return.
