Mount England decision made ahead of Germany clash, as official announcement made after Blues confirms goalkeeper deal is done

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount was forced to miss England vs Czech Republic final group clash due to Covid-19 fears.

Mount had come in contact with Billy Gilmour who tested positive to Covid-19, and was forced to self-isolate until Monday.

With the game against Germany on Tuesday, there are fears that Mount may have to miss the round of 16 tie as well, since he hasnt been involved in training with the rest of the team.

However, the Mail On Sunday claim that Mount is set to return against Germany, and the 22-year-old is also in contention to play from the beginning.

Mount has been keeping up his fitness by training away from the squad, and his energy in the middle of the park is something Gareth Southgate wouldn’t want to miss.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea star Joe Cole has said he would pick Mason Mount to start ahead of Jack Grealish in midfield for England’s Euro 2020 clash against Germany.

“As much as I love Jack, I’d go with Mase ahead of him for this game,” Cole told talkSPORT.

“Jack won’t like this, but having Jack off the bench, if it’s level after 60 minutes, imagine Wembley seeing Jack step up if we need something.

“You need someone on the bench who can change something.

“Mason’s a little bit more disciplined in the central position which allows you to change the system a little bit. “It’s like choosing [a favourite] between your kids. Choosing between Mason Mount and Jack Grealish… I love them both!”

Nathan Baxter will spend the 2021/22 season on loan in the Championship with Hull City after Chelsea allowed him to leave on loan

Baxter, who has more than 150 appearances to his name so far in his fledgling career, spent last season on loan at Accrington Stanley, impressing at the Wham Stadium before injury brought about a premature end to his campaign in March

Chelsea rate the lad very highly but are not ready to give him a real shot in the first team this coming season, meaning that Thomas Tuchel was keen to get him sent out on loan for the next 12 months.

Chelsea announced on the club website: “Baxter, who has more than 150 appearances to his name so far in his fledgling career, spent last season on loan at Accrington Stanley, impressing at the Wham Stadium before injury brought about a premature end to his campaign in March

“Despite suffering a shoulder injury just weeks after a move to the Scottish Premiership in 2019/20, he then played 14 consecutive matches for Ross County before the season was curtailed in May due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“At Accrington, he was an important part of an unexpected push for the play-offs before the Lancashire side fell away in the final weeks of the season.

“The 22-year-old will now get his first taste of experience in England’s second tier, linking up with Grant McCann’s side following their promotion as League One champions.”

The lad should get enough game time to prove that he does have the ability to go back to Chelsea and try to make some sort of impact
