Neymar sends positive transfer message to Chelsea after latest club decision

Paris Saint-Germain are open to selling Neymar in the summer transfer window with Chelsea and one other Premier League club interested in signing the Brazilian. The 31-year-old looks set to follow Lionel Messi out of PSG after the Argentina World Cup winner completed a switch to MLS outfit Inter Miami.

Neymar almost joined the Blues in 2010 after the club were said to have offered ‘lots of money’. Despite the financial pull of any offer from west London, Neymar snubbed a move to the Premier League and went on to join Barcelona a few years later.

According to L’Equipe, the Brazilian forward informed the PSG management about his decision following his return to action after a lengthy four-month absence due to ankle ligament surgery.

Neymar’s return to the team during their pre-season tour of Asia hinted at a revival in the French capital under Luis Enrique.

However, it appears that his aspirations lie elsewhere. The 31-year-old reportedly gathered his family and agent, Pini Zahavi, to discuss his future. Together they concluded that it was time to part ways with the Ligue 1 champions.

One of the reasons behind Neymar’s longing for an exit is an event that occurred earlier in the year when PSG Ultras staged a protest outside his home.

The incident left a lasting impact on the Brazilian star. The former Santos man believes the club does not provide enough protection for players and wants to leave France.

Nevertheless, he still has four years remaining on his contract with PSG. Also, he earns €30 million annually, which might be too much for the Catalans.

It’s yet to see if Chelsea is interested to sign him on loan or any permanent deal, but the Blues will surely enter the race to sign him according to several reports.
