The Chelsea midfielder made a surprise appearance at the wedding of Henna Khalid and Raheel Malik after he was invited by the bride’s father, Frank Khalid.
Kante said he was unable to attend when Frank originally asked him, due to commitments with Chelsea and the French national team.
But after picking up an injury that kept him out of Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United, the World Cup winner dropped his fan a message to confirm his attendance to the wedding.
It’s yet another brilliant gesture from one of the most humble footballers to ever play the game – and his actions made one fan’s big day even more special.
“We became friends when I was introduced to him by a friend and he came to my restaurant,” Frank told The Sun of his relationship with Kante.
“I invited him and originally he couldn’t attend because of his commitment to the French national team, but because of his injury, he messaged me saying he was coming.
“My family and myself are very close to N’Golo and he was one of the first people to visit me when I had my triple bypass surgery operation in April 2018.
“He stayed till the end and was so nice to everyone and signed autographs and took selfies with the guests.”
Wonderful stuff. After the wedding, Frank posted a number of videos on Twitter showing Kante taking photos and mingling with guests – he even got on stage to congratulate the happy couple too!
