OFFICIAL: Drinkwater joins Burnley on loan

Danny Drinkwater has joined Burnley on loan until 6 January on Thursday. The 29-year-old had been linked with a move to West Ham, Brighton and Norwich City this summer.

The Englishman eventually ended up at Turf Moor where he’ll re-join Sean Dyche. He played under the Clarets current manager on loan at Watford in 2011.

The Blues signed Drinkwater from Leicester City for £30 million in 2017. He made 22 appearances across all competitions in his first season at the Bridge.

The player’s situation at the Blues, however, changed drastically following Maurizio Sarri’s arrival.

The midfielder’s 30-minute substitute cameo in the 2018 Community Shield defeat at the hands of Manchester City remained his only outing of the last season.

Drinkwater’s Prem record so far:

Appearances – 99
Goals – 5
Assists – 9
