The Blues talisman has been in scintillating form this campaign, but has missed the last three wins against BATE Borisov, Burnley and Derby.

However, he should return for tomorrow’s London derby against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

He was pictured training at Cobham yesterday alongside the likes of N’Golo Kante, David Luiz, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Ross Barkley.

Chelsea are third in the table, just two points behind leaders Manchester City and second-placed Liverpool.

Ahead of the game, boss Maurizio Sarri has claimed the club still have a long way to go if they are to win trophies though.

He said: “I am very happy with the results and my players, but I know on the pitch we need to improve.

“We have quality, technical qualities, and we need to improve the defensive phase, otherwise we are not a solid team. And if you are not a solid team you cannot have very important targets.

“When I say defensive phase I am not talking about the defensive line, I am talking about all the team because it’s very important for us to defend in the opponent’s half and have the ball there.”
