Pep Guardiola told his biggest mistake with Pochettino after £40m deal

Former Chelsea striker, Chris Sutton has told Pep Guardiola he was wrong to have made the decision to sell Cole Palmer to Chelsea.

Palmer joined Chelsea over the summer for a fee around £42m.

The 21-year-old made the move after finding it difficult to earn a regular spot in Guardiola’s star-studded Man City side.

Since he made the switch to Stamford Bridge, Palmer has been nothing but phenomenal for the Blues, scoring eight goals from just 16 league appearances, despite the team’s struggles.

Pep Guardiola has previously claimed he has no regrets in letting the player leave, but Sutton insists the City boss and fans of the club must feel disappointed with the decision.

“If you’re a Manchester City supporter you’ve got to be thinking Pep was nuts to let him go with the talent which he has,” the former Chelsea striker said.

“Pep rarely gets egg on his face but it looks like this time he’s got it wrong. He really does. Palmer has been phenomenal in a struggling Chelsea team.”

Palmer netted twice in Chelsea’s last game to help the Blues to a 3-2 win away from home, and fans will be hoping he can maintain his good form until the end of the season.
