“Please forgive me”, “Don’t drop me”- Chelsea star begs Pochettino for forgiveness after he threw a bottle at him in 2-2 draw against Arsenal

Chelsea summer signing Cole Palmer has confessed that he accidentally threw a bottle at Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino during their 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the weekend. The English forward revealed that he apologized to the tactician properly after the game and joked that hopefully he won’t be dropped because of the incident.

Cole Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City in a deal worth €47 million during the summer transfer window, as per Transfermarkt. The attacker was given the nod to start the Premier League clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and he made the opportunity count.

The 21-year-old opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 15th minute before Mykhaylo Mydryk doubled their advantage in the 48th minute. The Blues looked in control of the game but Declan Rice capitalized on an error by goalkeeper Rob Sanchez in the 77th minute to halve the deficit. Leandro Trossard’s 84th minute strike ensured that the spoils were shared in the London derby.Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, the former Manchester City star explained how the incident unfolded, saying:

“When they scored their second goal I was getting a drink. I went to throw the bottle away, as you do, but didn’t look. I just saw it loop dead slow and hit the gaffer. I said sorry to him and apologised properly after the game. Hopefully he won’t drop me for that!”

Despite the incident, Cole Palmer added he gets on well with his manager.

“We get on well. I try to show him every day in training what I can do. Work hard and just try to repay him because he puts a lot of faith in us,” he said about their relationship.
