“Poor Poch should be put” – Chelsea told to hire 43-year-old to replace Pochettino after bottling Carabao Cup

Pundit Richard Keys has now told Chelsea who they should hire to replace Mauricio Pochettino as the manager at Stamford Bridge.

He said in his own blog that he believes the Argentine does not have the credentials to be a winner at this level.

Pochettino’s wait for a trophy in England was forced to go on last weekend after they were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool in the League Cup final.

His tactics as the game came to an end brought up plenty of questions from those who analyse games, with the boss seeming to admit that he was playing for penalties towards the end.

Keys was one of those to be critical of him, saying that the club should give the job to John Terry if they want to get back to winning ways.

He said: “In the end justice was done and Liverpool won the game. They deserved to. They were the better team. Chelsea didn’t ’bottle it’. They just weren’t good enough. And poor old Poch watched it all pass him by.

“I said Sunday – and I’ll repeat it here – he wouldn’t win the lottery if you gave him the winning ticket. Here’s a thought – how about Chelsea give the job to JT? Now he does know about winning.”

Terry is yet to enter the managerial game, with him seemingly waiting for a call from Chelsea in the past when former teammate Frank Lampard was in charge.

While it does feel as if Pochettino is on borrowed time, it doesn’t feel as if it is going to be the club legend coming in to replace him.

Reports have begun to state though that the club are monitoring potential replacements, with the likes of Roberto de Zerbi and Ruben Anorim being reportedly considered for the role.
