Positive update: Ruben Loftus-Cheek reveals when he will return from his injury.

Chelsea’s walking wounded are slowly all coming back to full fitness. Willian and Antonio Rüdiger are back in training and may even be ready to start on Saturday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is also training and is targeting a September return, as is full back Reece James.

The one player with a longer prognosis remains Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but there’s good news in his situation as well, with the midfielder apparently telling Sky Sports that he’s expecting to return to training in about a month or month and a half.

That would put his return to training for early October. Given his long injury layoff and the usual amount of rehab needed for the severe Achilles rupture he suffered in May, it probably will take him several weeks, if not a couple months, to get fully up to speed.

But if everything goes well, he could be back by the November-December timeframe, which would put his full recovery at the shorter end of the initial 6-9 month prognosis.

As ever, and especially with the injury prone Loftus-Cheek, it’s important to take things slowly to ensure a full and complete recovery.

But things are trending in the positive direction, and that’s good news indeed.
