Raheem Sterling thanks Chelsea & Liverpool for no longer boring title race

City attacker doesn’t seem to enjoy the last year’s title to the full.
This season, City have faced more competition.

He credits Chelsea and Liverpool, but not Spurs, for their run of form.

Raheem Sterling was quite bored by the title race last season that saw Man United finish 19 points behind and this year he’s certainly having much more fun, especially now in the third place.

He told Sport360 about City rivals: ”They’re [Liverpool] a great team, great players, not just the forwards but they are solid at the back. It’s a credit to them what they have done this season and that makes it even better for the league. We have got these strong competitors like Liverpool and Chelsea, otherwise it would be boring.”

Sterling then recalled another moment so sweet to Chelsea fans. In 2014, Liverpool slipped up against the Blues when they had to win to lead Manchester City in the title race. Back then, Sterling was still a Red.

He added: ”I thought we were the best team in the league that year in 2014. But you can’t be the best team if you don’t win the title. It was really disappointing to throw it away like that. But at the same time it’s one of those occasions that will stick with me because it was an amazing campaign.”

Chelsea are now within a 4-point range with Man City and it was actually the Blues who dealt Pep Guardiola’s machine their first blow this season.
