Real deal for Chelsea? – Chelsea held talks to sign €72M World class German attacker
According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea may have a chance to sign Serge Gnabry, a standout player for Bayern Munich, this summer.
“One of my best sources has once again reiterated Serge Gnabry as a real option for Chelsea this window, after mentioning him to me weeks ago,” Phillips said.
“Chelsea have recently met with the Bayern director when he was in England.”
Romelu Lukaku left the Blues for a loan back to Inter Milan, while others like Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech have also performed poorly. The Blues may use some major changes to their struggling front line before the upcoming season.
According to Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive CaughtOffside Substack, Chelsea are ready to sign Raheem Sterling, and it now appears Bayern forward Serge Gnabry could be another choice for that position on the field.
However, The German international’s contract at Bayern has one year left, so it’s possible that he will be offered for sale this summer.
Chelsea would do well to bring Gnabry back to London, with the player previously flopping in a spell at Arsenal as a youngster.
One imagines the 26-year-old could relish the chance to come back to the Premier League and prove his doubters in England wrong.
