Reece James sends wordless message to Mykhailo Mudryk after what he did last night

Reece James has taken to social media to praise Chelsea teammate Mykhailo Mudryk for what he did for Ukraine last night.

The club captain commented on the winger’s Instagram post after he scored his first goal for his country, helping them take a massive step towards Euro 2024 qualification.

Mudryk was firing on all cylinders last night, as the more confident persona continues to show himself this season.

He won a penalty to put his country ahead against Malta in the first half, before firing home a stunning goal late in the piece.

The goal was his first for his country, which has swiftly followed him opening his account for his club at last.

He scored a smart goal against Fulham, and was unfortunately impacted by injuries that have stopped him being able to kick on against Burnley the next week.

Nevertheless, he has picked up where he left off when the pressure was on for his country. Last night, they leapfrogged Italy into the automatic qualification spots with two games to go.

After the game, the 22-year-old took to Instagram for his post-match post, thanking fans for their continued support of him.

James was quick to comment, leaving a heart emoji underneath his post.

It remains to be seen whether this will be enough for Mauricio Pochettino to be convinced to bring him back into the Chelsea starting line-up.

He will likely be fighting Raheem Sterling for a place on the left, with the England international scoring twice last time out at Turf Moor.

Then again, the potential injury to Cole Palmer could see a route for both of them to start against Arsenal on Saturday.
