However, Kevin Friend has been appointed referee of the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Everton, Premier League’s website confirms.
The official from Leicester will work his second Chelsea game this season, having been in charge of 4 matches last season, including the same fixture between the Blues and the Toffees.
What’s even more peculiar is the fact that Friend has also refereed Chelsea’s two consecutive home games against Burnley, including one earlier this season.
Adrian Holmes and Simon Beck will be Friend’s assistants, with Graham Scott as the fourth official.
Martin Atkinson will be in charge of the VAR system, assisted by Lee Betts.
