Chelsea’s Champions League second leg with Bayern Munich looks likely to be played behind closed doors due to the ongoing worldwide efforts to combat Coronavirus .
Christian Falk of SportsBild reported the news this evening, as leagues around the world announced changes to combat the deadly flu.
While it’s not certain, the current developing situation means that it’s hard to imagine a world where fans are still being allowed into the stadium, and in fact there it’s far more feasible that games or leagues across Europe are delayed or even cancelled.
Certainly it seems unlikely that things are going to massively improve in the week before the game.
The fact that we’re 3-0 down and the tie is effectively over makes this far less significant, but it’s still shocking to see the ripples of Coronavirus spreading.
The Premier League is reaching an exciting conclusion, and it’s astonishing to think how seriously everything could be affected.
The match @FCBayern against @ChelseaFC is expected to be without fans #coronavirus
