According to reliable reporter Dean Jones of BR Football, Chelsea ‘touched base’ with intermediaries of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in January regarding making a move to Chelsea.
Werner has been linked with making a move to Chelsea, but since then all the talk has been surrounding him preferring a move to Liverpool, who are also interested.
But despite BR sources saying that Werner prefers Anfield as a destination, they also say that the German international could be swayed by ‘a charm offensive’ from Chelsea offering him a key role and an influential part of their next step.
They state that Blues hierarchy are considering bringing in a ‘grade A front man’ in the hope to kick on Tammy Abraham in his progression.
Although Werner to Liverpool still looks like the most likely outcome, he isn’t being ruled out for a move to Chelsea it seems.
Anything can happen in this business.
