Report: Two new members added to Chelsea board as Todd Boehly makes decision on Bruce Buck
According to reports, the UK government will confirm incoming Chelsea owner Todd Boehly’s proposal in a fortnight.
As the new owner of Chelsea, the American millionaire is already making major decisions.
After Roman Abramovich’s decision to sell the club, the positions of Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskaia have been discussed for months.
According to the New York Times, Bruce Buck will remain chairman of the board, with Todd Boehly overseeing day-to-day operations. It also says that non-executive members Daniel Finkelstein and Barbara Charone will join.
Clearlake co-founder Behdad Eghbali is not mentioned in the Times piece, and Jonathan Goldstein will not be joining the board of directors, presumably because he is a Tottenham fan (and season ticket holder).
What will happen to the other four existing Board members, Marina Granovskaia, Eugene Tenenbaum, Guy Laurence, who is also the CEO (since 2018), and David Barnard, who is currently the Director of Football Operations, is still unknown (and former club secretary). Tenenbaum may quit the club, particularly following his sanctions, while Barnard has been with the club since 2002.
Granovskaia is also anticipated to stay, at least for the time being, but her long-term status is unknown.
