Reports: Chelsea reportedly eye summer move for ‘new Mesut Ozil’ in bargain deal

According to Calciomercato, Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Melih Ibrahimoglu, who currently plies his trade with Rapid Vienna in the Austrian top flight.

However, The 19-year-old has only made a couple of senior professional appearances for Rapid Vienna in the Austrian Bundesliga in his debut season this term but has already been dubbed as the ‘new Mesut Ozil’.

Primarily a left-footed attacking midfielder, Ibrahimoglu has drawn comparisons with the German World Cup winner for his playing style, technical abilities on the ball and creativity.

Much like Ozil, the teenager is also an ethnic Turk about outside Turkey and the report suggests he could be available for as little as £3 million in the summer.

Ibrahimoglu, who has largely featured for Rapid Vienna’s reserve side in the lower echelons of Austrian football, is out of contract in the summer of 2021 and it is understood that he could be put up for sale.

Chelsea are reportedly among the potential suitors for the teenager’s services but could face stiff competition from Italian clubs Roma and Sampdoria.
