Honigstein believes no agreement has been reached between the player and Real Madrid so far though.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement podcast, the German said:

“I think he [Hazard] expected Real Madrid to come in strongly for him after the World Cup and that never happened.

“I think right now I’m not sure he even has a decision to make. I’m not sure how concrete the offer really is from Real Madrid.”

However, Honigstein suspects the La Liga giants are keeping in touch with the Belgian and are advising him against signing a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.

The German added: “I’m sure they are interested in him. I’m sure they’re telling him, ‘Don’t sign a new deal we’ll talk to you later’.

“But I don’t know if he’s actually 100% sure that he can force that deal through at the moment.”
