The German striker is close in signing with the Blues in coming as Chelsea has agreed to pay his release clause, and one can only wonder what jersey number the German striker will wear in a Blues shirt.
However, Timo Werner currently wears number 11 for RB Leipzig and could likely go for the same number at Chelsea – a number worn by Pedro. Pedro is set to leave club at the end of the season, meaning that the jersey will be available at the end of the season.
If Willian leaves the club at the end of the season, the jersey number 10 could also interest Werner, but February signing Hakim Ziyech could also be in the running for the jersey.
Werner donned the number 19 shirt when he first burst onto the scene with Stuttgart but that number is currently occupied by Mason Mount, and it might not be a number that will interest him at the stage of his career. Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa also donned the 19 shirt during his time at the club.
Werner has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe, after a prolific Bundesliga campaign where he has netted 25 goals in 29 appearances.
Liverpool were favourites for his signature, but Chelsea have moved to beat the Reds to his signature after meeting his release clause.
