According to Nischal Schwager-Patel from 90min, Chelsea’s new boy would give the Blues a welcome boost in the attacking department. On the other hand, his arrival will most certainly mean someone has to go.
With Pedro and Willian set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer Frank Lampard will most likely deploy Ziyech at the right.
If, however, either of the strikers pens contract extension, Ziyech will have to force someone aside. Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi are the two other players who’ll most likely be affected by the Morrocan’s arrival.
If Lampard decides to play 4-2-3-1, Ziyech could push both promising youngsters out of the starting XI. If the Moroccan is deployed as the attacking midfielder, Mount will lose his starting spot. Playing the 27-year-old on the wing jeopardizes Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
In short, Lampard will have to deal with the excess of the attacking talent and might be forced to make unpopular decisions.
Still, Chelsea fans shouldn’t worry as the boss most likely has a plan for the Moroccan. Otherwise, the Blues would never have signed Hakim.
