According to Daily Mail, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is looking to buy a Scottish club in order to get around rules set to come in next season surrounding the number of players that can be sent out on loan.
Chelsea send out a number of players on loan to get experience and build them for first team football at the club, a system the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori have all benefited from.
The new FIFA loan rule will impact negatively on Chelsea’s loan system.
The report on Daily Mail claim Chelsea intend to buy a Scottish club which will allow the Blues to send players there on a permanent basis with a sell-on agreement or a first option built into their contracts.
This would replace the need to loan out players, and would also give their youngsters the chance to play some top level football.
